Personal Statement

Director, Video Producer, Photographer, Writer, Food Critic, Psychologist, Teacher, World Traveler – I’ve worn many hats. But my motivation has always been the same – an overwhelming thirst for knowledge and a passion to get to the very essence of the world’s cultures and its people, to focus on what unites us, and to tear down the artificial walls and dispel the fears which superficially separate us.

Born and raised in New York City, I earned my B.A. from Cornell University, where I focused on Social and Cross-Cultural Psychology. I subsequently received an M.F.A. from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where I competed for and won a mentorship with Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis.

But it is not only my formal education that has defined me: the 40+ countries that I’ve visited or lived and worked in, the fascinating people that I’ve met along the way, the exotic cuisines I’ve savored – all have shaped me – as have my parents, who instilled in me a love for art, literature, music, faraway places, and a respect for life; my brother, who has always made me laugh and given me a patient, friendly ear; and, Lena, my lovely Lithuanian wife who challenges and encourages me and shares my passions.

Together these are my pot of gold: they have enriched me both as a human being and a professional and for these priceless treasures I will be forever grateful.
